THE JOB
Web Search Evaluators will review and evaluate internet search results based on specific search terms and provide a rating depending on the relevance of the search result to the search term. The evaluation work is done using an online automated tool.
 
You will work 4 hours per day (Monday-Friday) and have the flexibility to choose the hours you wish to work each day. This project requires a commitment to work part-time at 20-22 hours per week. Project work is expected to extend through August 17, 2012 with a possible further extension
 
REQUIREMENTS

    - Personal PC that runs Windows Vista or Windows 7 (Windows XP and Apple platforms, including virtual environments, are not acceptable)
    - Minimum screen resolution capabilities of 1280 X 768; desired resolution is 1280 X 1024
    - A high-speed internet connection
    - Ability to problem-solve technical/software issues independently
    - Detail-oriented and organized with strong time management skills and the ability to manage a 20-22 hours per week self-directed work schedule
    - Must be a current resident of the UK and have spent the majority of your life in the UK
    - Familiar with current cultural, political, business and media affairs in the UK
    - Extensive familiarity with a wide variety of online news sources published in the UK
    - Avid internet enthusiast with excellent web research and analytical capabilities
    - 1-2 years professional work experience

Qualifications:

 

Applicant must hold at least a Bachelor’s/College degree in Computer Science, IT or related courses

Knowledgeable in MySQL (phpmyadmin), PHP, HTML, CSS, and Javascript, Wordpress

Must possess intermediate to advanced graphic design skills (Photoshop)

Must possess intermediate to advanced skills using CMS platforms like Drupal & Wordpress

Proficient in identifying and solving cross-browser compatibility issues relating to HTML, JavaScript, DHTML, and CSS

Flash animation experience would be a big advantage (but not required)

Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for the design, layout and coding of websites including technical and graphical elements.

Maintenance or updating of websites including testing and identifying technical problems and trouble-shooting. 

 

NOTE: An applicant who has had working experience with applying PSD files into CMS Wordpress or Joomla with added functionality and plugin adaptation would be the ideal candidate.

*Command on PHP, MySQL, Linux, Apache, JavaScript, XML, HTML.
*Excellent in SQL concepts/ HTTP concepts.
*Should have experience in any of the CMS like Drupal and Joomla.
*Good to have experience in Cake PHP, Wordpress, Codeigniter, Zend Framework, Magento.
*Should be capable of integrating open source scripts and tools.
*Very good in programming logic.
*Should be well versed with LAMP. .

Position Description:

 Summary: Evaluates and tests Android applications to verify that they function according to specifications and standards by performing the following duties.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Tests software  or applications to compare to specifications and documentation

Perform tests and provide timely test results to test engineers and test leads.

Identifies, analyzes, and documents defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in embedded software program functions, outputs, online screens, and content.

Installs, maintains, and uses testing embedded software  programs

Work with the developers and test engineers to design test cases when needed

Work from verbal instructions and voice mail

Perform other duty's as requested by primary test lead, test engineers

Establishes benchmarks for program efficiency in operating and response times

Creates and executes automated test scripts using testing other software programs

Contributes to establishment of standards and procedures for program design and testing

Recommends program improvements or revisions to programmers and system analysts

Reviews computer logs and reports to identify program processing errors and possible improvements

Identifies program variances from standards and suggests modifications to conform

Character defects when needed or directed by test leads or test engineers

Conducts compatibility tests with other software  programs, hardware, multiple operating systems, and network environments

Monitors program performance after implementation to prevent recurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation

Documents, tracks, and communicates test results, analysis, and unresolved problems

Trains and supports users when needed
